A little camera for a little piece of mind!

Best $70 I’ve ever spent 😍 this might seem so unnecessary to some... but for those who have serious hauling anxiety, this will help you breathe! Accidents happen, even to those who check and double check EVERYTHING, so for me, it’s worth it!

So a little about this system: it’s a backup camera made for vehicles and RVs off amazon. The camera has a 150 degree viewing angle and night vision. The 7in monitor has two inputs to allow for a second camera to be added, the ability to flip and rotate the video, turn off/on parking guides, and brightness/contrast/zoom etc. One 23ft connecting cable, one 43ft connecting cable, and a cigarette lighter adapter with all connectors are all included.

There are tons of options for back up cameras like hard wired, wireless, and more “self contained” systems like this one. To keep it short and sweet, hardwired systems require the camera to be wired into the trailer using the running lights or reverse lights for power and a cable running to the monitor for picture. Wireless systems use transmitters and receivers so the picture is shared wirelessly through WiFi but the camera still requires to be hard wired in. The signal between camera and monitor is spotty and will cut out completely if in a bad area which is an issue I ran into with the GoPro/phone. When in a split second tragedy can happen, it wasn’t worth it to get a laggy wireless system. The system we purchased does have a cable running from camera to monitor. However, it’s unique in its design that no hardwiring is required. The cable that shares the picture doubles as the power source which allows freedom to move locations and trailers easily if necessary! I’ll add a diagram below.

The camera was originally placed in the center right above the middle slant, which was not ideal with one big horse booty taking up most of the picture. We moved it right inside the door looking forward, so we can see all the horses in this view. A second camera will eventually be placed in the front of the trailer looking to the rear for a clear view of the door.

Driving down the road the picture is flawless, even with the night vision! No losing signal or lagging! And other trailer cameras cost anywhere from $200- $300 for the essentially same thing!!
